To Kill A Mockingbird

He looked up at Carlos and tried to figure out if he could trust him. As he eyed him suspiciously he felt his heart rip slightly as the rate of it's beating increased. Letting out a yelp of pain he stumbled backwards clutching his chest tightly.

Breathing uneasily, Carlos released Skye from his arms and looked at him. "A-are you o-okay?" He asked with a stutter, ignoring the driver who was shouting insults at them. He took was shaking from the event, though not as bad as the younger boy.

As the two reached the pavement the car zoomed past with it's window open, driver shouting insults at them. The younger male was still shaking like mad, his heart thumping loudly in his chest started to ache.

Carlos followed suit and looked to his right, his eyes widened as he saw the car.
He took the opportunity to run before being over come by his fear, keeping Skye close he made a dash for the pavement.

A sudden screech to Carlos' right made Skye look in that direction, he noticed a car speeding towards them breaking. It wasn't going to break in time.
He clung to Carlos tightly absolutly petrefied.

Continuing to keep an eye on the traffic, he held Skye even closer and practically lifted him off his feet and made a run for it, hoping not to get hit by any of the traffic.

He whimpered behind held like that reminded him of his brother, a brother he hated. Looking around at the cars he knew it was no time to start struggling against the male restraining him.
Skye was shaking in fear.

Being more determined to get the child than protect his own life was a bit of a stupid decision, which Carlos would soon realise. Running into the road after him, he took care not to get in the way of many cars though failed at doing this quite a lot of the time causing the cars to slam on the brakes as to not hit him. Finally reaching Skye, he held him close and looked around for the perfect time to run out of the road without getting run down by one of the larger cars.

The red head, not paying attention to where he was going ran directly into a rather busy road.

"Woah, woah! Hey! Stop for a sec!" He shouted as he chased the boy. Not exactly the best runner ever due to his clumsy stumbles, but nevertheless he was quite fast. He had to be fast to escape anyone who would do him harm, much like the young boy had just done.

He looked up to see Carlos not too far away. Skye was scared, he wondered what he wanted with him. Stumbling to his feet he started running as fast as he could in the opposite direction.

As the cool breeze blew past, a flop of Carlos' hair blew into his face obscuring his vision slightly. Not a problem really as it had a simple solution, which Carlos demonstrated by brushing his hair away from his eyes. In the distance, he could see the bright red hair of the boy. "Excuse me!" He called, trying to be as polite and quiet as possible so he didn't scare the younger boy.

The group had been caught by one of the teachers and been given detention for being outside of the school grounds.
Skye just shivered as a cold breeze swept past him sending his hair flying everywhere.

Still in a state of shock from this sudden action, Carlos breathed deeply trying to regain a happy medium emotion wise. He began to ponder on what the head master had said. The new kid was supposedly just how Carlos used to be, and that red head he had just protected seemed to fit the description pretty well already. Following the trail that the kid had been following whilst being chased by the older teens, Carlos kept a sharp eye out for the older boys as well as the young child.

He knew that it wasn't Carlos the teens were after and that if he ran the teens would follow, so he did, and the outcome was as he'd expected.
The young boy wasn't exactly slow, in fact he was pretty fast for his age. He'd had to be with what he'd been put through. Soon his breath ran out and he leant against a tree gasping. Having the lost the group of teenagers he slumped to the floor holding his head in his hands hoping the dark haired person was ok.

Any form of communication with the young teen seemed to have come to a halt as he froze with fear, regretting standing up for the younger boy.

"you and what army are going to stop us?" The group of teenage boys smirked.
Skye felt like it was all his fault, why couldn't the boy in front of him just let the group carry on doing what they had been. It's not like I don't deserve it.... the young boy thought.
He tapped Carlos on the shoulder timidly, terrorfied of the response he may or may not recieve.

Trying not to show his fear, Carlos stood tall. "Just leave him alone." That single sentence made Carlos feel complete vulnerable and unsafe.

The elder boy who Carlos had pushed glared.
"Keep yer nose ou' of 't prick, 'e deserves 't"
Whilst the one behind Carlos was bewildered, he opened his eyes to see Carlos standing in front of him.

Glancing out a window, he saw th incidebt begin to unravel. Calling out, he began to run out of the school grounds. "Leave 'im alone!" He called, though he wasn't quick enough to stop the first blow. Standing between them now, Carlos shoved the older boy.

As Carlos walked, the new kid found himself being shoved into a wire fence just outside of the school grounds. Wincing the boy looked up at the boys that were picking on him. His eyes weren't exactly normal. One was purple and the other blue, both had lost their shine a long time ago.
He could see a raised fist moving towards him, he shut his eyes tightly and looked away.

Unimpressed by this, he mumbled his understanding and walked out of the office and down the hall, wondering where and who this new kid could be.

"only if you go find him, if you don't I'll put those detentions right back where they were"
The man glared, knowing given half the chance Carlos wouldn't bother keeping his side of the deal.

Carlos merely mumbled at this, clearly uninterested now he had what he wanted. "Can I leave now?"

"He should have been here a while ago, I was hoping to introduce you to him when I pulled you in, but seeing as he's not I'm guessing either;
A) he's got lost
B) decided to run, which isn't very likley
or
C) Got caught up in something."
