Jurassic Hijinks

Skye picked up the cd player remote and turned the music up even more to try and block out Carlos' voice.

Carlos sighed deeply and walked over to his cousin. "Skye..."

Skye glanced up at Carlos before burrying his head in the pillow to hide the fact that he was crying.

Carlos blinked and opened the door and glanced at the red head. "...Skye?"

"Just go in! He's always like this" Kyle shouted from the kitchen.

Frowning slightly, Carlos knocked on the door again. "Skye? It's me. Please, I'm not gonna talk to you like I'm mad."

Skye grumbled and turned his music up louder to try and ignore anyone who spoke to him. The red head was curled up on his bed with his pillow over his head.

Gently placing Kyle down on the ground, Carlos smiled and nodded in understanding before he made his way upstairs. As he stood outside what he assumed was Skye's room, he knocked on the door. "Skye?"

Kyle was shocked but eventually patted Carlos on the back, it had been a long time since he'd been in any form of physical contact with anyone.
"You're welcome.. now go upstairs and shout at Skye for me ok? He might listen to you more than he does me"

Carlos couldn't help but smile at his uncle, he really had no idea how proud his parents were of him and he didn't know their reaction when he got his job. All he knew was; what Kyle had just said made him feel a whole lot better about himself. Carlos wrapped his arms around his uncle and lifted him off the ground in a hug. "Thanks..."

"Christ Carlos! They ARE proud of you! I'm damned sure of it!! One little glitch can ruin the best of us" Kyle explained to Carlos "All it takes is someone to offer a helping hand and pull you out of the hole you've dug yourself into and you'll be back to who you were. They are proud of you Carlos, can't you remember when you told them you'd got your job at the school? Look Carlos, just let Skye help you keep off the drugs and everything'll be as back to normal as it can get"

Carlos gave a small smile and glanced at Kyle. He was about to admit something he'd always wanted to say, and what he lived by even if his parents were dead. "I just want to make them proud."

"... I know about your situation with Vincent, Carlos... if you ever need to get away for a while my doors always open. Christ I'm his younger brother" he couldn't help but laugh "Imagine what it was like living with him like that? For... years... he was worse when he was younger, he loves you, he just doesn't know how to deal with the alcohol enduced version of yourself."

Carlos couldn't help but frown slightly. "Care's a lot more than some people..." He muttered quietly as he began to think about his father. Letting out a deep sigh, the dark haired male rubbed his eyes with one hand.

"Again?" he half chuckled "he never gives up... least it shows he cares"
Kyle brushed his fringe from his face and looked at Carlos.
"Means you'll be able to go out and get a job again, get on with your life" He smiled.

Looking away slightly, for some reason Carlos filled with guilt. Maybe because he knew that he could've helped if he actually was there. He decided to change the subject to avoid any emotional break downs. "...Skye's trying to get me off drugs and drinking." He said with a slight smile.

"Lucky for some" He chuckled "Don't tell Skye that... or he'll just shout at you... all he tends to do is shout now... damnit..."
Skye's dad was clearly suffering alot.
"I wish I couldn't remember it..."

Carlos was glad he wasn't the first to talk, he took it as a sign that it would be okay for him to speak. Following his uncle, he crouched slightly to get through the doorway to the kitchen. "It's fine. I... Don't really remember it that well." He said, it was in fact the truth as he hadn't even been there.

"He's been like that for a while now" The man sighed and went back into the kitchen "Sometimes I wonder if he's the son I knew before the incident... alot of things changed for the worse after that... I'm sorry about Becki.. I know you properly don't want to talk about it but... I know how you feel about losing a wife and kid"

As Skye left, Carlos instant felt very awkward being left alone with who was actually his uncle. The dark haired male kept silent and occassionally glanced around trying to avoid eye contact.

Skye sighed and walked upstairs leaving Carlos with his dad downstairs.

A smile spread on the dark haired males face as he saw Skye's father, it was nice to actually see someone who made him feel better about himself. He raised a hand and waved. "Thanks." He said with a smile. Carlos knew from that instant he'd probably spend more time talking to him than anyone else.

After 10 minutes Skye took out his keys and opened the door.

"You're later than normal" Came a voice from inside.
The voice was kind but sounded almost as if it was suffering.

"Sorry dad... didn't mean to... umm.. kinda got... lost..." Skye tried to lie
The man walked into the hall and leant against a wall and sighed. His short dark brown hair stood up messily and stood out against his pale complexion. Green-ish blue eyes stared at the two from behind a fringe.

"You've never been the best at lieying" The man smiled weakly untill he saw the state Skye was in "Where did you go last night? The park again? Christ it was raining Skye!"

The red head flinched "Dad... I just wasn't in the mood for coming home.... plus... can't we talk about it later? Carlos is here..."

Looking behind Skye the father noticed Carlos and smiled.
"Hey, havn't seen you in ages, looking better than you did when I last saw you though" the man smiled.

The older male nodded silently and proceeded in following his cousin.

"Fine... my house is closer than yours.. it's too cold to stand out here and talk..."
